HI FAMILY!
I am still shocked that it is the first of December! It is so crazy how fast time flies especially around the holidays! I love this time of the year! It is so fun to see all the lights up on the houses and to see peoples houses decorated and the whole town square area is all decorated. They have like 40 Christmas trees one at every light post and then a huge one in the middle of the town! it is seriously the most Christmasy thing ever and I love it!
Some exciting news: We set a baptismal date with our investigator C for the 27th of December! It was kind of a shock that she agreed but she really wants the happiness the gospel brings in her life. It was truly a wonderful lesson and really did bring the spirit. We've still got a lot to do in terms of teaching and helping her progress, like the word of wisdom and chastitiy are two that might take some time. But she has always been willing to try and always liked the results so thatll be great!
Also we had Thanksgiving this week up at M house. It was the best! Since we took an essentials (short) p-day Monday, we were able to spend from 1 to 6 with him to have our Thanksgiving. We were able to watch some Mormon messages, play a little football and EAT! It was really fun! It was also our district activity so we had the 4 elders with us and just got to relax. M was a way good cook so it was super yummy. It was the first time I had had mashed potatoes here so I was pleased! We had pumpkin pie all homemade! They don't sell the cans here so he homemade it all and it was delicious!
We also had our open house at our church this week. We brought down 12 missionaries, but sadly only 8 investigators came. It really would have been better if it could have been better advertised, but that's alright it was their first time ever. Funny story from the open house: We were giving a missionary choir concert every half hour to the people there. Søren the music coordinator planned that søs barrett and I would sing Come Unto Christ and then afterwards søs barrett, æ madsen, æ ogden and I (slagelse missionaries) would sing whatever song we wanted. Well because we hadn't picked anything out or practiced at all it didn't quite go as planned. We, on the spot, picked a random song from the hymnbook and started to sing. Turns out our elders aren't the best at not laughing while singing. So one line in we were all cracking up on stage. We tried again and got halfway through before dying of laughter again. It was rather bad, so because we couldn't stop laughing we just decided it was best to cut our losses and sit down... so we did! The good news is that it was mainly just members in the audience and they all thought we were hilarious, said we added some fun to our open house so that was alright! Mainly we just realized we shouldnt be asked to sing as a group again.
Anyway, It is just amazing how the Lord helps us in our lives! If you haven't heard of it already go check out the He's the Gift mormon message. We are starting to share it with everyone here and it really has made a difference! Just always remember Christ.
We had a great lesson on the gospel of Jesus Christ in church, and talked about how we can keep ourselves in check by asking if we feel as close to Christ now as we have in the past. If not it is time to figure it out. He said, that if you don't feel like praying, or reading your scriptures or going to church, it is then that you need to do it most. There was a talk by Dale Renlung a, I think about a change of heart, and it was amazing! It really made me think!
WELL, I hope you all have a wonderful week! I love you all so much! Thank you for everything!!!
LOVE YOU!
