Christmas week was just so great, it was so good to see the family and get to talk with you all. Way exciting! It has just been a way perfect week!
It all began with Monday night we did family history with this guy Jacob, who is friends with a member, and he was just so excited to start, we got him all ready and helped him figure out how to start, the tricky part is trying to find out information so he doesn't get frustrated or discouraged but he was loving it. He wants to fill his fan chart in all the way back as far as it will go. So that was super exciting.
Then Tuesday we had a little concert. This woman in our ward Sarah asked us missionaries if we would come Carol and give a little concert outside her apartment building and she would invite everyone who lives around her to come and see it. She even made cookies and hot chocolate. So the 6 elders and us went over and sang about 14 ish songs. She actually made a video of it and said that she has sent it to some of her friends and they loved it. A man that was there even asked her about why we had the name tags. Luckily enough we all can somewhat sing so they were super happy about that. but it was just a really fun way to meet people and get to spread the christmas spirit.

Wednesday, we had a dinner for everyone who didn't have a family or a place to be. basically all those that were lonely or just wanted to come hang out. so the elders and us made loads of food in the church and set it all up. it was a hit. we had a bunch of people come and they got to just relax and we got to know them all better. Even ended with a nice game of basketball :) But it went way well. it is crazy how well the christmas season can just bring people together.
thursday was danish christmas! so we went to the folke kirke the danish church with jennifer, malene and jill, some members and their sister. it is a huge tradition to go to the folke kirke on chirstmas. it is basically the only day all danes actually go to church. there was only standing room when we came so we stood and watched. it was fun to see the differences in churches. but then when we left there was a line of like 100 people waiting to go in for the next gudstjeneste. it felt like walmart on black friday. but then afterwards, we went hometo their house, and helped make food, and sang christmas songs. we had a karaoke battle between us and jennifer and the elders and jill. id say we won. but then we ate, we had the usual duck, fleckesti, potatoes, rødkål (my personal favorite) and the other usual danish foods. it was delicious. then we played pack a line which is a present game. kinda hard to explain but way fun. we had to take a break before risalamonde, whcih is the dessert. i learned how to make it and it was so fun. but there is a game with it, that there is one full almond in it and whoever finds it wins a present and rumor has it if you win and sleep with the almond under your pillow youll dream of your future. so hey i totally won, but sadly i cant remember the dreams.. but anyway we then danced around their crhistmas tree while singing, another danish tradition, you all hold hands and sing and dance, it was way fun i love danish traditions. then we had to run to catch our bus, so we left. but the bus drove right passed us so we ended the night with a nice long walk home. it was a wonderful christmas!
the 25th american christmas we were with president, we had a great turkey dinner and watched the grinch and played a bunch of games. it was so much fun. president and his family are just the greatest! and of course we got to skype home which was a blast! i love you all so much!
sunday we had jesenka in church and she loved it, she was so open and talkative and said she wants to come back every week she doesnt have a concert. that made us super excited! and eline called us from norway and said that she wants to be baptized soon! so we are excited to help her get there. A random thought that came up while in guest class in church a member said that Christ is like our best friend who will tell us when we have something in our teeth, or will tell us that our fly is down and it might be awkward and hard to take at first because no one likes to see their weaknesses but that he tells us so we can fix it and so it doesnt get worse. he does the hard part so we can move forward happier and stronger. It has been a wonderful week! I hope you all have a great new year! :)
