Hi FAMILY!
I sure hope you all have had a great week! I can't believe it is already Monday again! It really is incredible how fast this week has gone by! Just so crazy! This week has been wonderful! It's been a lot colder than usual with lots of rain and strong wind (I guess there was some hurricane in our area that was affecting us) but all is good!
It is always incredible to me to see how the Lord blesses each of us and all that He does for us in our lives. This week has just been so fantastic. We had some really great appointments and the spirit has just been so strong this whole week. With our investigator Marianne, we watched the restoration video with her and after we watched it, she looked around the room and said that it felt like something was in the room with us. She said she just felt so warm and had goosebumps. We talked to her about the Holy Ghost and she said that she knows the feeling. It was just a really incredible experience! She is amazing and just so open, even said that she believed this church was gods true church on earth!
We were also able to meet with a less active I have never met before, she called us and asked if we could come over. She had served a mission but had some health problems with depression and anxiety and just didn't feel good enough for church but we talked alot about her and her husbands missions and you could just see the light click on in her eyes. She said that she loved meeting with the missionaries and wanted to meet more, and that she thinks she might be ready to come back to church. It was a special experience for me, because she was the one to call us and it really was the Lord who helped her to take that step. She was just so sweet and it was fun to go talk over a cup of tea and just help her feel a little more of Gods love. That is one thing that I have noticed really helps people is just that spending a little time and just showing you care really makes a big difference.
Like with Francesco, Tinas fiance, who we had Christmas with. He only speaks Italian, and he was just recently baptized but he has some struggles with his heart and so he hasn't wanted to meet much becuase it stresses his out a bit. But since we just spent some time with them at Christmas and New Years day, he has been a lot happier and has invited us over multiple times for dinner. One thing he loves to do is cook, so it's hard for us to communicate but that doesn't even matter when we are all sitting around his table eating his food. I have just seen the light switch on in his eyes since we actually took the time to get to know him and just to care about him. One of the things our mission stresses is shorter lesson, which I have also seen help alot, but it really was made apparent to me this past week that sometimes the shorter (under 25 minutes) lessons aren't for everybody. It really does all depend on listening to the spirit and being able to tell when it is time to go and when it is okay to spend a few extra minutes. It is sometimes tough to do, but I really have a seen that the numbers aren't as important as helping those people we are with.
It just has been a great week! we have also planned a date to go to the temple with a recent convert Bettina! She wants to go and do baptisms the 24th of January so we all get to go with her. The fun part is that she planned to go the same day as another recent convert in our ward so we are all going to take a trek up to the temple with the ward, the elders and anyone else who wants to come to do baptisms!! I am so excited!
I hope everyone has a great week! I love you all so much! Thank you for all the encouragement and love each day and week! I couldn't do it without each and everyone of you!!
